Loves Return (Loves Loss)

Suddenly it was 1969 again.
36 years just disappeared —
and I was in love.
The air smelled of orange blossom and you.
Too few things I remember — was it September?

Spring springs to mind,
and here you undermined me,
when we met down by the river,
where your father drove the ferry.

We walked together
through the orchard,
so undone and tortured,
on that soft and fragrant evening,
when we were so young.

A wise man once said
that young love never dies
and you are still forever young
in my ever loving eyes.

The years of years
just dont exist, time lies —
your kiss, your kiss,
I can’t resist.

I didn’t know how much I missed you,
Just to be with you — is bliss.
I love you madly,
and I want you sadly,
knowing that it’s never going to be.

My key to happiness — unturned
love unrequitted and unreturned.

Quiet now my heart,
as slowly, slowly I must start
on my lonely path — without you.
