Breathless

One breathless moment.

Have you got a moment?

A momentous moment,

even a monumental moment,

a mountain of a moment,

a hill of grace,

a transcendental kindly kind of space,

of delicious disconnection,

between you and the human race.

I long to be chaste,

and not waste my life

on squandered moments,

this multitude of moments,

that I must embrace—

but let’s cut to the chase!

I’m outnumbered by momentos,

and remembrance of things past,

I don’t know how long I can last.

I’m bearing up,

but surely since my last bearing,

I seem to have gone beyond caring.

I need a quiet moment,

I need some air,

I’m momentarily breathless.
